Mumbai: HCL, the one of the leading software companies has rewarded its top 130 performers an abroad holiday trip with their family or they can drive home a Mercedes car. A company official said that the “company understands the impact of hard working employees on their growth and we want them to celebrate the success of theirs and company with their family”.
HRD experts feel that novelty of being given an abroad holiday package or a Mercedes car will strengthen their relationships more than the being given an increased salary hike or incentives. This step will further encourage more competition within employees in company and will yield better results for the company in the future.
“The newness of the reward will have more impact on bonding between company and their employees” said Anandorup Ghose, performance, rewards and talent practice leader at executive search firm Aon Hewitt India.
P Thiruvengadam, senior director for human capital at Deloitte, expects that with changing time perks offered by firms will get more innovative as compared to early incentives offered by company as salary hike. This innovation in giving incentives benefits the firms monetarily more than before.
Innovation in giving incentives to employees is not only limited to IT sector but is getting popular in other business sectors also.
Few months before a diamond merchant in Surat, Gujarat gifted his employees with 500 cars and 200 flats besides expensive jewelry as Diwali bonus to 1200 of all of his employees who achieved the annual target given to them.
Kris Lakshmikanth, CEO, at The Head Hunters (India), his firm also had plans to gift their employees with innovative perks. Firms in upcoming years will have a closer look to the market trends to analyze what innovations are introduced by companies in giving perks to their employees.
He expects to see more innovative ideas in giving perks by firms to their employees in 2015, as it can prove to be a motivating tool and non-permanent in nature.
