When discussion starts about SEO, people still thinks that SEO is all about link building. Just create back-links by social bookmarking and posting same article on many websites will rank you higher.

This will not work in 2015!

Search engines bots have become much smarter than ever before. Some of old techniques still work but should be implemented in moderation and strategically. To rank higher in search engines your website doesn’t need a creative or unique design but you must consider some important factors

1). Website Speed: Earlier Google didn’t gave this factor much preference, but now things have changed. Google have officially announced that websites with high loading speed will be given more preference.

2). Broken Links: Broken links leads to 404 errors in a website. Broken links should not be ignored as they are not only responsible for lower page ranking but also affects user experience of your website and can lead to higher bounce rate of a website.

3).Redirection of www.domainname.com/index.php to www.domainname.com This redirection will prevent search engine crawler to index two webpages with same content. This can be accomplished by writing few lines of code in .htaccess file.

4). Keyword in Title Tag: Occurrence of keyword in title tag is an important SEO factor. It is always recommended to follow a certain pattern while writing title tags. Tile tags should not be more than 70 characters.

6). Avoid Keyword Stuffing: Keyword occurrence is an important factor for ranking in search results. But keyword should occur in body text with keyword density of not more than 2-3%. Excessive use of keywords or keyword stuffing presents a bad report in view of search engines.

In a content of around 500 words a keyword should not occur more than of 2 times.

7). Keyword in URL: Domain name containing keyword will be a plus but availability of such a keyword friendly domain name can be a mere luck for anybody. But search engines give preference to URL containing keyword.

Choose SEO friendly URL’s as it should be less than 60 characters and containing a keyword will help search engines to rank that page more easily.

8). Keyword in bold/italic: Bold and italic text can be easily seen and can be differentiated easily from other text. Search engines bots also give more preference to the formatted text than normal text.

9). Content Freshness and its Originality: Many times we would have heard that content is king and is considered as an important factor for getting ranks. But content freshness also matters in gaining ranks. Fresh and genuine content gets more respect from search engines than duplicate content.

10). Keyword in H1: Heading tags play an important role in search rankings. Search engines are giving more weight-age to the websites with keyword in H1 tag and using other heading tags precisely in a page.

11). Internal Linking: Importance of better internal linking can be understood in such a way that better interconnection of routes in any city makes easy for people to navigate their routes easily and shortly.

Same is the case for interlinking of pages of a website. Better interlinking will help crawlers and users to index and navigate through whole website very easily.

12). Content above the fold: Above the fold’ is the portion of the webpage customers see instantly upon coming to your website, without needing to scroll down.

In Google latest updates ‘Above the Fold’ is given more preference than never before.
