Importance of Fiber Rich Food in our Diet

 

Busy lifestyle and changing eating habits these days are a major reason for poor health and this increases obesity in our body. People who consume junk food at regular intervals are more prone to diseases like heart attack, diabetes, blood pressure etc.

Dearth of fiber rich food from our diet gives birth to many diseases in our body. Lack of fiber in body slows down metabolism rate in our body. Junk food like pizza, burger, French fries etc contains 0% fiber due to which it takes more time to digest as compared to fiber rich food.

Whole grains, green vegetables, fruits contain fiber in good amount. It is not only easy to digest fiber rich food but also cures other diseases related to digestion in our body. Fiber rich food also cures the disease of piles. Fiber rich food reduces bad cholesterol, energizes your body and cures provides relief from the acidity.



Fiber is as essential in our food as protein, fats and carbohydrates. Fiber rich food is low in calories which helps to reduce excessive weight and also contains antioxidants which helps prevents aging.

Foods like orange, apple, broccoli, cucumber, carrot, oats, whole wheat are good sources of fiber. Fiber is a type of carbohydrate which changes to nutrients needed by our body after passing through digestive system of our body. Doctors recommend high fiber diet because it keeps your metabolism healthy by flowing out toxic substances out from our body.

Many dieticians believe that fiber not only keeps your heart healthy, but also make our bones stronger than those persons who consume less fiber. A person on an average requires around 700 g of fiber every month.

Fiber is of two types, first is soluble and another is insoluble. Soluble fiber is found mostly in citric fruits, beans, oats, pulses, soya milk and in other soya products. Insoluble fiber is found in wheat, vegetables, fruits etc.

According to doctors, a woman above the age of 50 years requires 21 g and man require 30g of fiber everyday as compared to those woman under 50 years requires 25 g while man require 38 g of fiber everyday to fulfill the daily requirements.

Excessive consumption of fiber can also reverse the good effects of it and can cause dearth of important minerals like zinc, calcium and iron from our body.
